Time is Flying by Fast!

Família,

Glad to hear you all had a great week! Hearing that you guys are doing well makes me happy. Overall a great week here in Itaqui! Yesterday was my last day of first 12 week training program!! crazy! Time is flying by fast. It seems like, how am I already trained!? I just got here. lol. But i am absolutely loving the work. There couldn't be anything greater I could be doing right now. This gospel is so true! It blesses and changes the lives of families. I'm always thinking, man, Ive only got 2 years of my eternity to serve my mission here in Brazil as a missionary. I better make it count and do EVERYTHING in my effort to fulfill all the Lord wants of me. Being a missionary for The Lord is the coolest and most rewarding thing in my life. I love all of you guys so much! Sorry for the short email! I will try to write more! This week will be great! I pray for you all everyday. I love you!

We Serve for the Salvation of Souls

FAMÍLIA,

Another great week here in Itaqui, Brazil! Seriously love the mission. Had 3 baptims saturday! it was an amazing experience! (oh and Nadia has next sat marked for her baptism) 3 baptims and 3 missionaries, perfect! haha they wanted all 3 of us to baptize so it worked out perfectly! The investigators always chose who they want to baptize them. Allysson, the young man chose me! haha love that guy. he is super funny. That family is really special! Elder Hauck baptized Leda and Elder Rodrigues baptized Andrielly. super neat experience to be a part of!! The spirit was so strong and testifying. We serve for the salvation of souls, through baptism! When we achieve baptism, it really is something undescribable.

I have provided an explanation if  you would like to know what baptism is for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

Jesus Christ taught that we must be baptized by immersion (Mark 16:16; 3 Nephi 11:21-26). He set the example Himself by being baptized to “fulfill all righteousness” (Matthew 3:15).

We are baptized by someone who has God’s priesthood authority for the remission of sins. (Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16). We are also baptized to become members of the Church of Jesus Christ, and to enter the kingdom of God (John 3:5).
Through the ordinance of baptism, we make a promise, called a covenant, with God. We promise to accept Christ, to become His followers, and to keep His commandments to the end of our lives. In return, our Heavenly Father promises to forgive our sins and let us return to live with Him, provided we keep our covenants. Link for this info provided HERE

This transfer is short, next week is already transfers! crazy! I hope i stay in Itaqui. Really love it here and the people. Starting to get used to it you could say haha! :) But i will serve where ever the Lord wants me to serve and when He knows best! Elder K and Nygren return home this week already!? how!? Man thats crazy! We will miss them! give them my congrats! We will need to stay in touch! and Syd said school is almost over already!? how!? hahahaha! seriuously get lost of time in the mission! have no time to think of time! haha only act, do and serve! it is an INCREDIBLE experience. Oh hey i have a question! do we have a pic of my baptism? and if we do, can you mail me a copy! i would love to be able to share this pic with others! Baptism really is special. so i know this email is super short but i have lots of paperwork to do for ID! sorry! but dont worry, I will talk to you via skype next sunday!! HAPPY MOTHERS DAY MOM!! I love you! you mean the world to me! Think of you everyday! talk to you sunday! :)
Thanks for everything family! I love and miss you all tons!
Have a great week and Happy Mother´s day!

Family,

Thanks for all of the emails and updates! I love hearing from you all! It was another great week here in Itaqui, Brazil. I think I’m finally starting to really get lost in the work! Time is flying by fast! Yesterday was April 1st, and I was 18, today it’s almost may and I’m 19. Crazy! Hahah. Family home evenings are great here! I challenge you guys to continue to have family night once a week. It really is special: start with a prayer, sing a hymn as a family, have a spiritual message, then a game/activity of some sort, and end with a prayer. Then dinner and dessert! It’s really awesome here. I love family nights! And so I challenge you guys to have them and share the same joy from FHE with me. :) Oh I keep forgetting to tell you guys that ´´Jairo`` is Jairus in Portuguese. And it’s more or less a common name here! haha. (even in bible the story of daughter of Jairus, is Jairo in Portuguese.) thought you guys would think that’s cool!

This week we had reunião de zona (Zone Conference)! We took bus to são borja to have the meeting. (about an hour and a half bus ride) it was great! lots of inspired training and talks. plus had a great time at the same time! sent some pics. I received lots of letters at reunião de zona from the ctm from you guys and some other ones! haha!! (sometimes takes long time to get things you guys send, but I will eventually get them!) thank you so much!! tell the Deans and Rogers and all the families that sent me letters thanks as well! really means a lot!

So I didn’t think I would... but every missionary has to have the missionary ´´haircut´´ experience. so in short, we're poor. Haha and Elder Hauck has a haircut thingy (can't remember name of it in English). So he offered to trim my hair, I needed a haircut pretty bad, so I accepted! Yep as you can see I don’t have much hair left. HAHA! All good, not too bad, especially bc it was free!  but hey, I can say I’ve had the missionary haircut experience now! lol. oh and almost forgot, we had a service opportunity finally this week! Cleaned up a member’s yard. pretty fun. love service! chopped down grass that was up to our waists. found all sorts of bones, skulls, snakes, and spiders underneath it all. (one spider was giant and super dangerous! but I didn’t see it only heard the story so who knows haha)

We also had district conference Sunday! so we traveled again to são borja for that. chapel is really nice there though, it was nice! president and sister Parrela were there speaking as well. it was good to see them.

Great news!! We have 3 and maybe 4 baptisms this Saturday!! (the investigator work is still going great here.) Always work to do, people to find, teach, testify, and baptize! the pic of a family night is with Irmã leda (the mom), Andirelley (daughter), and Allysson (son). this family is really great and special. they will be baptized together this Saturday! and possibly Nadia, another investigator we're working with! she said she´d think about the date this sat. Hope all goes well this week with all of them! keep em in your prayers! :)
Well just about out of time! in short, it was another great week!!
I love and miss you all family!
Thank you for everything!
Have a great week! Love ya!

oh p.s. I made brownies for reunião de zona. they actually turned out great! who knew!? haha
pps. finding and making the stuff for brownies is really hard in brazil and in Portuguese! lol
